Changing HTML Tags

In this tutorial we explore how to customize the HTML tag for elements within the Breakdance UI where the feature is supported. This capability allows for greater flexibility and semantic accuracy in structuring web content.

Customizing HTML Tags in Breakdance

Breakdance provides the option to alter the default HTML tags used for rendering various elements. This functionality is particularly useful for meeting specific semantic or stylistic requirements.

For elements like Headings where it’s very common to need to change the tag, you’ll find the HTML tag dropdown in the content tab of the Properties panel.

For other elements, such as Sections, where changing the tag is less common, you will find the HTML tag dropdown under Settings > Advanced in the Properties panel.

Changing An Element’s HTML Tag

  1. Select the element in Breakdance.
  2. In the Properties panel, look in the appropriate content area for a HTML tag dropdown.
  3. If there is no HTML tag dropdown in the content area, go to Settings > Advanced in the Properties panel to locate the HTML tag dropdown.
  4. Once you’ve found the dropdown, click it to view the available tag choices and choose the appropriate one.

Summary of Customizing HTML Tags

By following these steps, you can easily customize the HTML tags for supported elements in Breakdance, tailoring the semantic structure of your web content as needed.

Additional Notes

It’s important to understand the semantic implications of each HTML tag to ensure your web content is organized logically and is accessible. Customizing tags should be done thoughtfully to maintain the structural and stylistic consistency of your web pages.
