Setting Up Slack Webhook

Creating a Webhook in Slack

  1. Access a Slack workspace where you have permission to manage apps and integrations.
  2. Go to ‘More’ on the left-hand side and select ‘Automations’.
  3. In the app directory, search for ‘Webhook’ and add the ‘Incoming Webhooks’ app.
  4. Choose a channel (e.g., General) for the webhook to post to and click ‘Add Incoming Webhooks Integration’.
  5. Scroll down to the setup instructions and copy the provided webhook URL.
  6. Close the Slack settings and return to your workspace.

Configuring Slack Webhook in Breakdance

Adding Webhook URL to Breakdance

  1. Go to the WordPress admin panel and navigate to Breakdance > Settings > API Keys.
  2. Paste the copied Slack webhook URL into the ‘Slack Webhook URL’ field in the API keys section.
  3. Save the changes to confirm the integration.

Setting Up Slack Action in Breakdance

  1. Open the Breakdance page and click on the form builder element.
  2. In the properties panel, expand the actions section.
  3. Select ‘Slack’ from the ‘Actions After Submission’ dropdown.
  4. Edit the Slack action by clicking the pencil icon.
  5. Configure the message settings including text, title, description, and whether to include form data and timestamp.
  6. Choose a border color for your message.
  7. Save your Slack action settings.

Testing the Integration

Test the integration by submitting a form and checking the Slack channel:

  1. Submit a test entry from the front end of your form.
  2. Check the designated Slack channel to see if the message appears correctly with all configured options and form data.


With this setup, your Breakdance forms are now capable of sending automated messages to a specified Slack channel, enhancing communication and data sharing from form submissions.
