Creating and Displaying a WordPress Menu in Breakdance

This guide explains how to create a menu in the WordPress admin panel and display it using Breakdance. The process involves creating a menu in WordPress and then integrating it into a Breakdance header for a seamless website navigation experience.

Creating a Menu in WordPress Admin Panel

To create a menu in WordPress:

  1. Navigate to ‘Appearance’ > ‘Menus’ in the WordPress admin panel.
  2. Give your menu a name, for example, ‘My Menu’, and click ‘Create Menu’.
  3. Add pages or posts to your menu. Select pages from the list or use the search function to find specific pages like ‘Home’, ‘Services’, or ‘Portfolio’.
  4. To create a dropdown menu, drag pages under the desired parent menu item.
  5. Once your menu is organized as desired, click ‘Save Menu’.

Integrating the Menu into Breakdance Header

Next, integrate the menu into a Breakdance header:

  1. Go to ‘Breakdance’ > ‘Headers’ in the WordPress admin panel.
  2. Click ‘Add Header’ to create a new header, or edit an existing one if you already have a header on your site.
  3. Name the header, for instance, ‘My Header’, apply it to ‘Everywhere’, and then click ‘Add Header’.
  4. Open the header in Breakdance for editing.
  5. Add a ‘Header Builder’ element and then add the ‘WP Menu’ element to pull the menu from WordPress into your header. You can also add a logo for a complete look.

Styling the Menu in Breakdance

To style the WordPress menu in Breakdance:

  • Access styling options in the ‘Design’ tab of the WP Menu element.
  • Customize styles for desktop and mobile menus, including spacing and other design elements.
  • If you have multiple WordPress menus, you can select the specific menu to be displayed in the WP Menu element under ‘Menu’.
