Flexible Content

Breakdance includes full support for ACF Flexible Content fields, making it easier than ever to build dynamic, client-editable pages while keeping full design control.  With this integration, you can visually design Global Blocks in Breakdance and map them to specific row layouts in an ACF Flexible Content field, allowing content updates to be handled entirely from WordPress without touching the design.

Please ensure you have your ACF Flexible Content set up before working in Breakdance.

Set Up Global Blocks

The first thing you’ll want to do is set up your Global Blocks for each applicable Flexible Content Layout. We recommend one Global Block for each ACF Flexible Content layout, but your exact setup may vary. We also recommend naming the Global Block the same as the layout name.

After you are inside the Global Block, you can add the desired Breakdance elements and use Dynamic Data to assign the appropriate ACF Flexible Content fields to each Breakdance element.

Flexible Content Element

With your Global Blocks set up to each Layer, the next thing you’ll want to do is to add the Flexible Content element to the page or template where you want to show ACF Flexible Content at.

After you add the element to your design, the first thing you’ll want to do is select the Flexible Content field.

With your field set, open the Blocks control and map each Global Block to an ACF layer.

Finish Styling

With the Global Blocks created and the Flexible Content element configured, you may then want to make additional styling changes for your layouts. You may continue to modify the Global Blocks, or modify the Flexible Content element’s designs to create the perfect setup for you or your clients.
