Documentation/The Editor/Variables/Per Element Overrides

Per Element Overrides

Overrides supply an existing variable's value within an element and descendants.

Overriding a Variable

  1. Open Settings > Override Variables, click Add Variable, and open the item.
  2. Select the global variable, set typed Value, and save. Add more items for other variables.

Descendants inherit; their own overrides take precedence. Siblings retain their prior values. Literal styles do not change—overrides do not create bindings.

Dynamic Values

Where supported, bind Value to compatible dynamic data evaluated in the current post/loop context, with fallback for missing data.
