performance matters

Fast because there’s less to load.
Breakdance avoids unnecessary wrapper elements and deeply nested markup. The DOM is smaller because the builder does not need layers of structural junk to make the editor work.
CSS, JavaScript, and component dependencies are loaded conditionally rather than shipping the whole builder framework on every page.
For interactive elements, Breakdance deliberately uses small, performant libraries and builds components in-house when the standard option is too heavy. The goal is not only fewer KB, but less JavaScript execution.
Breakdance generates and caches CSS, minifies post styles, skips empty stylesheets, and avoids requests for CSS that has nothing to output.
Breakdance plays nice with your host's cache and also caches data that would otherwise be regenerated on every request and skips unnecessary rendering work where possible.
Breakdance can remove things WordPress commonly loads whether you need them or not, such as Gutenberg CSS, emoji scripts, Dashicons, oEmbed, and pingback functionality.
Nothing loads on a page unless the page uses it.
Performance & SEO
Your questions answered.
What makes Breakdance different from other WordPress builders when it comes to performance?
Breakdance is built with performance at its core, featuring clean HTML output, lightweight JavaScript usage, and strategic resource loading. We use only necessary libraries and code elements, and our intelligent caching system ensures that CSS and scripts are efficiently managed to optimize both initial and recurring load times.
How does Breakdance handle JavaScript and CSS?
We carefully select lightweight, performance-optimized JavaScript libraries, such as Swiper.js for sliders, and develop many features in-house to avoid bloated third-party code. CSS is intelligently cached on both a per-page and sitewide basis, reducing redundant server requests and speeding up page rendering.
Can using Breakdance improve my website’s SEO & visitor retention?
Yes. The clean, efficient code output by Breakdance helps improve site speed, a significant factor in search rankings and visitor retention.
Do I need additional plugins to optimize performance with Breakdance?
Generally, no. Breakdance is designed to minimize the need for additional optimization plugins by integrating advanced performance features directly into the builder. This not only simplifies your workflow but also reduces the potential for plugin conflicts that can affect site speed. If you want to use an optimization plugin on other plugins, you may do so, but it is recommended that you configure it to not touch Breakdance's output because it is already optimized by default.
Can Breakdance handle complex sites with many elements without slowing down?
Absolutely. Breakdance is engineered to efficiently manage sites of any complexity. By loading only the assets that are used on the page and optimizing how they are delivered and cached, Breakdance ensures that even content-rich sites remain fast and responsive.
Can Breakdance lazyload my images?
Yes, of course. And you can change this on a per-image basis.
Can I use a CDN with Breakdance?
Yes, Breakdance is fully compatible with all CDNs.
Does Breakdance respect srcset and sizes functionality built in to the WP media library?
Yes, Breakdance respects the img srcset and sizes functionality built in to the WordPress media library.
Does Breakdance handle default WordPress bloat?
Yes. From Breakdance → Settings → Performance you can disable all sorts of bloat that WordPress loads by default but is unnecessary on most Breakdance and other non-blog websites.
