Template Content Area

The Template Content Area makes one region of a template editable in Breakdance on every item the template applies to.

The template holds the shared layout—a header strip, a sidebar, or a footer. Where you put the Template Content Area, each item gets its own area: open that post or page in Breakdance and design what goes there, while the surrounding layout stays in the template.

Change the shared layout once in the template, and every matching item updates. The content inside the area belongs to the individual post or page.

Adding a Template Content Area

  1. Open your template in Breakdance.
  2. Find Template Content Area in the Dynamic category of the Add panel.
  3. Place it where the per-item area belongs and build the shared layout around it.

The element appears only while editing a template. A template can contain only one Template Content Area; Breakdance prevents you from adding a second.

On the Front End

The template renders the item's own content inside the Template Content Area, between its opening and closing tags. Everything else in the template surrounds it.
