Location, Conditions & Priority
Location determines where a template applies, conditions narrow its scope, and priority selects between matches. Headers, content templates, and footers are resolved independently.
Open an entry's Settings in Breakdance > Templates, Headers, or Footers to change these controls.
Location
| Group | Available locations |
|---|---|
| Everywhere | Site-wide, including requests matching more specific locations. |
| Single | All Singles, public post types such as Posts, Pages, Media, and Front Page. |
| Archive | All Archives, Post Archives, Taxonomy Archive, Date Archive, Author Archive, Post Type Archive. |
| Other | Search Results, 404 – Not Found Error. |

Conditions
Click Add Condition, choose a condition, comparison, and value where required, then save. Available conditions depend on the location and integrations; comparisons such as is empty need no value.
- AND adds a rule to the current group; every rule must pass.
- Add Condition adds an OR group; one complete group must pass.
For example, a Posts template with a logged-in condition requires both a post request and a logged-in visitor. OR groups never bypass the location. Without conditions, only the location limits the template.

Priority
If multiple templates could apply to the same request, the one with the higher priority wins: 30 overrides 20. Locations prefill these defaults:
| Location | Priority |
|---|---|
| Everywhere, Search Results, 404 – Not Found Error | 1 |
| All Singles, All Archives, Post Archives | 10 |
| Specific post types, Front Page, specific archive types | 20 |
