Overview

Headers, footers, Global Blocks, and single and archive templates let you reuse the same design in multiple places, with Dynamic Data supplying content that changes from page to page.

Managing Templates

Go to Breakdance > Templates in WordPress to create and manage templates. Manage headers, footers, and Global Blocks under Breakdance > Headers, Breakdance > Footers, and Breakdance > Global Blocks.

Creating a Template

  1. Go to Breakdance > Templates and click Add Template.
  2. Choose a preset for a common purpose, or Add Custom Template to configure the location yourself.
  3. Enter a Title, choose the Location, set any Conditions and Priority, then click Add template.

Hover over the new template and click Edit in Breakdance. Build its layout as you would a page, using Dynamic Data for changing content; the preview picker lets you view it with different posts without changing where it applies.

Template Types

Single

Display one post, page, or custom post type item, with its title, fields, and content. See Single Templates.

Archive

Display a list of items selected by WordPress, such as a category’s posts or a post type archive. See Archive Templates.

Display results for a visitor’s search, including when no results are found. See Search Templates.

404

Display a recovery page for a URL WordPress cannot find. See 404 Templates.

Headers & Footers

Display a header or footer on the page, above and below the main content. See Headers & Footers.

Location, Conditions & Priority

Location determines where a template applies. Conditions narrow that location, and Priority determines which template wins when several match.

See Location, Conditions & Priority for the available options and matching rules.
