Design Library Parts

Design Library Parts store reusable layouts, such as hero sections, calls to action, and pricing tables. Add a Part to pages on your own website or share it through a design set.

A Part becomes an independent copy when you add it to a page. Use Global Blocks when you want changes to a shared layout to update all its placements.

Create a Part

First, enable your website as a design set. This makes the Part content type available.

  1. In WordPress admin, go to Breakdance > Design Library Parts and click Add New.
  2. Enter a title and save the Part.
  3. Open it in Breakdance, build the layout, and save your changes.

Create a Part from Quick Navigator

  1. In Breakdance, save your current work and click the document title in the top bar to open Quick Navigator.
  2. Click the add control beside search.
  3. Enter a Post Title, choose Part under Post Type, and click Save.
  4. Open the new Part, build its layout in Breakdance, and save.

Organize Parts

In the Part's WordPress editor, open the Design Library panel:

  • Tags — Organize the Part into folders in the library sidebar. Spaces and commas separate tags; use a single word or a hyphenated name such as Pricing-Tables for each folder.
  • Hide in Design Set? — Exclude the Part from the library.

Save the Part after changing these options. See Creating a Design Set for the same controls on pages and posts.

Add a Part to a Page

  1. Open the destination page in Breakdance and choose Add > Library, or press Cmd/Ctrl + B.
  2. Choose This Website or the design set containing the Part.
  3. In Filter by type, select Part, then select the Part in the sidebar.
  4. Click Import Page to insert the complete Part, or hover over an individual section and click Add to page.
  5. Close the library, edit the inserted elements, and save.

Despite its label, Import Page inserts the Part's layout into the current document. For a Part from another set, follow any shared-settings import prompt needed to reproduce its styling.

Edit Parts and Imported Copies

Edit the original Part to change the layout offered for future imports. Existing copies on other pages stay unchanged.

Edit an imported copy directly on its page to customize it. Those changes affect neither the original Part nor copies used elsewhere. To use a revised source layout on an existing page, import it again and replace the old copy, or update that copy manually.

Part Problems

  • The Parts menu is missing: confirm Turn This Website Into a Design Set is enabled and saved, and that your account has full Breakdance access.
  • A Part is missing from the library: confirm it has a saved Breakdance layout, clear search filters, and check Hide in Design Set?.
  • The preview returns 404: on the source site, go to Settings > Permalinks and save to refresh the permalink rules.
