Breakdance's visual editor builds pages and templates from elements. The canvas shows your design, the properties panel edits the selected element, and Structure shows how elements are nested. Select an element on the canvas or in Structure to see its controls.

How to Open the Editor

  1. From the WordPress admin, go to Pages > All Pages.
  2. Click the title of the page you wish to edit.
  3. Click Edit in Breakdance in the page editor.

Other Ways to Open the Editor

From the Pages List

For a page already using Breakdance, go to Pages > All Pages, hover its title, and click Edit in Breakdance.

While Editing Another Document

Click the document name in Breakdance’s top bar to switch to another page or template.

Making Customizations

Select an element to change its content or appearance. Use Add to insert new elements and Structure to organize the page. Changes to a container can affect the elements inside it.

Add Elements

Open Add in the top bar, then click an element to insert it or drag it into position. Library opens ready-made designs.

Delete or Duplicate Elements

Select an element, then click the duplicate element icon or trash icon in the properties panel or the Structure panel. Deleting or duplicating a container includes its children. See Managing Elements.

Rearrange Elements

Drag elements on the canvas or in the Structure panel to reorder them or move them into another container. Indentation in Structure shows which elements are inside others. See Rearranging Elements.

Edit Text and Other Content

Select an element and open the Content tab to change its text, images, links, or other content. Available controls depend on the element. See Content Tab.

Change Appearance

Open the selected element’s Design tab to adjust its layout, colors, typography, and spacing. See Design Tab. For defaults shared across your site, use Global Settings, Variables, or Selectors.

Adjust for Different Screen Sizes

Choose a breakpoint in the top bar, then edit responsive values for that screen size. Desktop supplies the base styles; smaller breakpoints can override them. See Responsive Design.

Save and Exit

Click Save in the top-right corner to keep your changes. To leave the editor, click the X beside Save, also in the top-right corner, then choose Exit to WordPress or Exit to Frontend.
