Connect Your Agent

You can connect an AI agent — Claude, Codex, OpenCode, Cursor, or any agent that supports MCP — to your WordPress site and Breakdance. Once connected, the agent can build and edit pages in Breakdance. It can also control any other WordPress plugin that supports MCP, so it isn’t limited to Breakdance.

The connection runs through Agent Connector, a plugin that links your agent to WordPress over MCP.

Installing Agent Connector

1. In the WordPress admin, go to Breakdance > Settings > Agents and MCP.
2. If Agent Connector is already installed, you’ll see a Connect button. If not, click the one-click install button to install it.
3. Refresh the page. Agent Connector also appears as its own item in the WordPress admin menu.

Agent Connector installs like any other plugin and shows up on your Plugins page.

Agent Connector settings

Open Agent Connector from the admin menu to manage the connection. From here you can:

• Enable or disable the connector.
• Lock it to a specific domain.
• Log MCP events, then open the log to see everything the agent has done.
• View the abilities registered on your site.

Connecting your agent

1. Go to the Connect screen and click Get Started.
2. Choose your agent from the list. If yours isn’t there, choose Other for universal setup instructions that work with any agent that supports MCP. The list of supported agents grows over time.
3. Generate an application password when prompted. This lets the agent connect to your site securely, with the same access as an administrator signing in.
4. Follow the install instructions for your agent. Copy the command shown, open your terminal, and paste it. Your agent confirms the MCP server was added.

Confirming the connection

Open your agent and ask whether it’s connected to WordPress over MCP. It should confirm the connection, and it can pull your site info to check the site is live.
